Unsure?

Until recently I had never realized how many people struggle with uncertainty about their salvation through Jesus Christ. It seems many Christians, especially young Christians, constantly deal with doubt about their eternal home. It is a fear that one does not have to experience. These fears are brought on by feelings of inadequacy. Adequacy does NOT save us. Our imperfection is the very reason why God sent His son Jesus to earth. If we could've ever been adequate enough to merit forgiveness, there would have been no need for the Cross.

I'm not a believer in the doctrine of eternal security (at least not as I understand it). I am, however, a believer in God's inescapable grace. As a Christ-follower I take comfort in living in that grace every day. Living in it, not abusing it. Living in His grace means living in a way, through His power, that mirrors the life of Jesus. We are saved FROM something, and FOR something. Even on the days I feel like a miserable failure at that "for something", I never doubt the power of God's forgiveness through the blood of Christ. That blood has covered me, completely. This is the center of the Christian faith.

Being a Christian is something we are, not something we do. The "are" must be reflected in the "do".
