Moving Toward More

For months, even years, now, we have been praying for God to move. In order that people would move. We've been asking Him to take over. To take over our Sunday school classes, our small groups, our youth meetings, our worship experiences. So that finally, people would allow Him to take over their lives. We've prayed this because we knew if that would happen, then people begin living powerfully, passionately, purposefully. Instead of living aimlessly, apathetic, average.

Most "preachers" think they can teach people into the kind of lifestyle I'm talking about. They think with three points and a poem, they will move people to a life of purpose. If that were true we would not have been waiting so long for our prayer to be answered. You see, only a movement of God can bring about permanent life change. Only a movement of God can shake people out of spiritual ruts. Only a movement of God can produce a life that is consistently Christ-centered. Only a movement of God can cause a person to take an honest look at his own life.

Last night a movement of God caused people to just that. To look at the life they are leading, and search for the missing piece. In doing that we all realized something. Something I don't think any of us ever truly realized before. At least not completely, not honestly. What was it?

I NEED GOD!!
Not that I love God, or that I want God, but that I need Him. I can't function without Him. I can't be a husband or a son or a father or a boss without God. I can't work, play, or sleep, without Him. I can run, walk, drive, or fly, without the protection of His presence. I can't be or do anything without Him.
I NEED GOD!!
